CENTRALITA'

Intersecting colours, lines, shapes… images which emerge or appear reabsorbed by atemporal spaces, an as thin as permanent restlessness floods the scenarios which Maria Pia Taverna transfers on pictorial supports, fragments of a more ample scenario in which humanity finds itself to consume its own existence. The artist draws, through a psychic re-elaboration, from a as fragmented as illusionary reality, from a transitoriness even more accelerated by a rationalism and by a technology which create the needs and the tools into a support of a I vacillating between the euphoric and the depressing. The obvious of a search, the prelude to further evolutions which sees the feminine as protagonist in a really surreal society appears through every and all of her works.

Emotions fix into the colour, in the anthropomorphic o distinctively human forms are recognised the glares of the appearance, of the vacuity, of the institutionalist lie, of the living, not of own energy, but of reflection. Nature rarely appears or it is an allusion to it: it is not anymore present into the human imaginary.

Maria Pia Taverna makes a great creative effort, in a spatiality well managed in the composition of the elements, she assumes, with an always greater consciousness, the primigenial vocation of the art as a communicative form at the service of the human community.

They are intense works, the symbols, the archetypes, the ambiguities, make a thick plot from which is not possible to escape, it makes us feel the urgency to find the real centre, to reassemble the disassembled, to find again the liberty from conditioning, to get back our own true nature which can not be identified with "golden calf" or can appear as "whited sepulchre" in a society not even anymore bourgeoisie and Pharisaic but simply conformed, incapable, empty.

Like the differentiation of genders recomposes itself into the androgen, in the least works the prelude finds its outlet into a representation always more of synthesis, the metamorphosis happens, it becomes abstract, lyrical.

We are not going to look for anthropomorphic traces or for "non places" architectures in order to recognise ourselves into the classified, the colour becomes absolute protagonist: the ctonious black, the energy of the red, the depth of the blue, seem to make a preface for new creative acts. The value of an art work is confirmed into the expression of the values. Maria Pia Taverna reveals progressions directed to the centrality of the knowledge of our own self, spring of real progress and of long-lasting welfare. Happiness can not be bought, it must be conquered.
