Between natural and abstraction, between identifiable shapes and interior shapes, Maria Pia Taverna's artistic journey gets new interpretative aspects which can be directed to the human existence; the dualism, the desires and the not satisfied impulses, the soul impulses between restlessness and serenity emerge.

Comprehension passes through Her compositions: the scenery is an as fragmented as illusionary reality, the atmospheres are dominated by the feminine the presence of which is crypted by the interlacing of lines and colour masses. But it is the very dynamic of life which transforms the environments and of the men, which addresses the artist on the photo-pictorial support with new elements and new light.

As the buds spring opening wakes up again a renewed amazement, so the angles of view of blue enlarge towards infinite, with the life primary spring, with the rebirth event. Maria Pia Taverna's new season opens to the "four elements", their description crosses over the pure natural and transparent function, it introduces us over a thinner plane which has as correspondents the determination, the intellect, the passion, and the emotion.

The artist well moulds the colours meaningful for each of them, in a balance which well disposes, immediately, who approaches. A metapainting, which from physical, technical, and apparent, becomes object of reflection, of thought. Those works wake up the desire for flavour and for knowledge, because they raise that unsolved part of the conditioned human, they address towards a searching for the individuation of a solution to the vague and to the non-sense which always more characterises the contemporary society.

Maria Pia Taverna has got the capacity to represent the effect of the conditionings to which men get entangled: the emblematic feminine, the anthropomorphised nature, the allusion under different forms to sexual union, the wriggling colours, and bewitching atmosphere, are springs for reflection over the "aim" of the man.

Maria Pia Taverna, through her works, stimulates the searching for the reach of the interior welfare, for the knowledge of our own self, spring of real rogress and she invites us to elevate our existential plan to the "fifth element".
